We hired a motorhome from South Lakes Motorhome a couple of weeks ago. We travelled up to Scotland for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The information videos were great but the information booklet in the motorhome was invaluable. Sam was extremely helpful and we felt reassured even though we were hiring a motorhome for the first time. It was comfortable, clean and very reliable. we hired a motorhome from Sam & Adam for 2 weeks, from the very first contact nothing was to much trouble, the motorhome when collected was in outstanding condition inside and out, also supplied with very handy videos òf how everything worked within the van, we had a fantastic 2 weeks, travelled across to the north east then up to falkirk, fom there to Loch Ness, down to Loch Lomond passing through Glen Coe, down to isle of whithorn and last couple of days in Luce Bay before returning home, the motorhome is very comfortable and easy to drive once you get use to the extra width and length, a fantastic motorhome and fantastic local company, a great 2 weeks neil & Julie and the 2 dogs Moss and Mac ( who also loved the adventure )

Really enjoyed the time we spent with South Lakes Motorhomes 6 Berth camper. We spent a little time touring Inverness and around the cairngorms.Couldn't fault start to end of our experience, and to add Sam made it as easy and informative from the go. All in all a very smart and comfortable camper that I would recommend to anyone wanting this type of break/holiday. This was a new kind of mini break that we would normally have but I have to say we will making it more regular and I am sure we will be back.

The team at South lakes were fantastic at giving us lots of extra information with our trip as they had done the very same trip we were planning.....so could give lots of tips and advice. Really encouraging and helpful. We wanted to use a local firm rather than a national and their vehicles fit our requirements perfectly. would recommend.

“Even better than I imagined...and I've got a good imagination!!!” We decided we had had enough of tenting so tried a pod. Unfortunately our experience was less than great - everything except the tent had to be provided by us. Motorhomes seemed to offer a solution so we investigated and were delighted to find a source close to home in Barrow-in-Furness. We viewed the vehicle and liked what we saw so we booked. We've now enjoyed our first week in the Lake District with the Roller Team 707 from South Lakes Motorhome Hire and I can't see us going back to anything else!! For ease of driving, layout and overall comfort the home gets top marks. What also amazed us was how light it was inside. For customer support, even in the time of a pandemic, Sam gets a Gold Star. We have already booked for next year and, so popular is this supplier, we nearly weren't successful! If you want the best - guess you've got to think ahead and get your bid in early.

“Excellent motor home hire in lakes” Sam was excellent in the whole process, particularly given this was right at the beginning of opening up from COVID-19 lockdown. She prepared a number of videos to watch in order to learn the controls so that it could be done without close contact and they worked very well. The motor home was brand new and fitted out very well. It was quite comfortable for four of us and was especially welcome when the rain was coming in sideways with tents around us taking off! The beds are comfortable, and has plenty of space for 4 people to live, eat, watch TV etc. There is plenty of storage spaces and the garage is very useful for loading up at the start. We had 4 bikes on the bike rack, and it was very easy to mount and secure them.The van was easy to drive, no more difficult than a car. Sam completed a very extensive handover at the start, so we were able to use all the functions of the van.Highly recommended!

No hidden costs and a new motorhome that was clean and had everything we needed for our travels in the Lake District. Sam gave us a very extensive run down of everything we needed to know before we set off and provided a useful handbook with photos in case you forget anything during the handover.Very easy to drive and very spacious inside, particularly with just two of us. The garage area was useful to keep lots of things and the bike rack on the back was also nice and easy to use. Also very speedy return of our deposit following return of the vehicle.I would highly recommend this company and hope to be back sometime in the not too distant future!

We hired a motorhome from Sam for our first experience as a family of 6 travelling on holiday together. This was our weekend practise run as we are booked to hire the van again in summer to tour Europe.The motorhome was clean and cosy. It comes ready with just the right amount of crockery and catering equipment for a homely trip. The beds are comfortable and the space is very manageable. There are plenty of little storage spaces and the 'garage' space is very useful. The van was good to drive, functions were straight forward to use, van maintenance easy to upkeep. Sam was extremely helpful and knowledgeable at all points of our hire. She was available to contact whilst on our trip and promptly helped us when we had a technical hiccup. This was very reassuring for us . Our family all enjoyed travelling in the Motorhome and we look forward to going again.

Very impressed with this luxurious motorhome. it was simple to drive, economical on fuel and handling was as light as a feather. Full instructions were given and backed up with the instructions folder (with pictures) which was extremely useful as back up. Storage was amble for 6 and the sleeping arrangements were comfortable and cleverly designed to optimise space. Sam couldn't have been more helpful and made the whole process transparent, easy to follow and was professional and warm at the same time. Will definitely be using again!

We've just returned from 2 weeks touring Scotland in a South Lakes Motorhome & would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to hire.Samantha was great to deal with, from our first contact to ask whether our 3 dogs would be allowed, allowing us to view the motorhome before booking, providing us with information on campsites to help plan our trip, giving full instructions on everything in the motorhome on collection to checking it over on our return and refunding our security deposit within 1 day of return.The motorhome was very well equipped with most things you are likely to need during your holiday & the drop down bed was great to ensure our dogs stayed in their own beds rather than jumping on our bed as they do in our current caravan!Despite its size my husband found the motorhome very easy to drive and even commented after getting back into our own, much smaller car, that it felt heavier to drive than the motorhome!We hired the motorhome as a trial before we decide whether to upgrade our caravan or change to a motorhome & it's convinced us that a motorhome will be the way to go at some point in the future. In the meantime, I would certainly use South Lakes again.

Just spent 2 wks touring Scotland and had a wonderful time. Sam was very helpful and knowledgeable and let us visit the van when we booked. We were in touch regularly before our holiday arrived and Sam was always on hand to answer an queries. On pickup day, we were given a very detailed run through all the equipment before we left. There was a useful folder full of information along with campsite guides and a good atlas.The van was big enough for all of us, 2 adults and 3 kids and 1 small dog. The van was well equipped and there was a thoughtful welcome pack to get us going, tea bags, coffee, biscuits etc. The van was clean, comfortable and we got into a routine quickly.We visited some wonderful places and stayed on some lovely sites and had a great time. Hubby and I & our 3 dogs are just back from a 2 week tour of Scotland in a South Lakes Motorhome and would highly recommend it. The motorhome is lovely & is well equipped with most things we needed during our holiday.Sam was great to deal with, from our first enquiry about the dogs being allowed, allowing us to visit for a viewing before booking, giving us full instructions on everything on collection to the check over on return and refunding our security deposit within a day. We used this holiday as a trial before deciding whether to upgrade our current caravan or change to a motorhome & it's certainly helped us make up our mind that a motorhome is the best option for us. Although, unless we win the lottery, it won't be for a while so we might be back to hire one again in the future!

Great company to hire from

We first heard of South Lakes Motorhome Hire by chance, over breakfast with like minded holiday makers in the Dordogne earlier this summer. I had up until that point given up on finding such a genuine hire company . There are so many online operations purporting to have hundreds of vehicles available. It seems that most don’t actually own any, but scam owner/investors into letting out their perceived ‘pride and joy’ motorhome to all and sundry for little reward and much hassle to both themselves and their prospective hirers.We also needed a supplier willing to let our little dog Lucy travel with us. This appeared to be another obstacle with the few genuine companies we actually found. Not so for South Lakes Motorhome Hire, they gladly accept well behaved dogs (£30 fee) providing they are not allowed on the furniture or left in the vehicle unattended.South Lakes always run current model year vehicles and sell them on at the end of season. Our 7.3m long Auto Roller 707 was a gorgeous bit of kit! As we were traveling as a couple with a small dog we were able to leave the dining area set up and sleep in the full sized double bed which lowers electrically from the roof at bedtime, already made up. It apparently sleeps 7 but only has space for 6 people when on the move.The vehicle is registered with the Camping and Caravan Club, so discounted rates are available on sites run by them, a perk we used on at least a couple of the nights during our trip.Our week long trip took us through Scotland and onto Skye. The weather was atrocious for much of the time but we were always snug in our modern motorhome, equipped with a great heating system to keep us warm and an equally efficient fridge to keep the beer cool. Both work of the electric hook up when on a campsite or by gas if you fancy a night of wild camping.The company hold a £750 security deposit which I feared we might have seen the last of when I had to report a broken wing mirror early on in the week. I was instantly reassured by text message that all would be done to minimise the expense. I want to sing their praises as they kept true to their word. On arrival back in Barrow we were welcomed with a smile and told that they had already bought the spare parts £142 (receipt supplied) and if they could fit them themselves then there would be zero cost for labour. Later the same day I received an email confirming this was the case and the balance of the deposit was already back in my bank account.I look forward to our next trip and although Barrow is a little out of the way, I would make the diversion again for that added peace of mind.Thank you Sam & Adam.

We have just come back from a weeks holiday to Scotland in our rented motorhome from South Lakes Motorhome hire. We had an amazing time and the motorhome was excellent, with all the home comforts you can imagine. Everything was provided, so we just had to turn up with our duvet, pillows and clothes. We had such a good time we really didn't want to give the motorhome back. Everything was spotlessly clean, the van was excellent to drive and toasty and warm, with central heating. Any correspondence was quickly answered and we always felt that we were being looked after. I would definitely recommend hiring from South Lakes Motorhome hire, in fact we have booked again for two weeks next year and we can't wait.

Without hesitation 5 star! We hired the motorhome for a week to explore Devon and Cornwall. The motorhome is immaculate and very well equipped for a comfortable holiday. Easy to drive the long distances. Sam and Adam, the owners, are most helpful and gave a very comprehensive handover before we set off. This is the second hire we've had from this family run business and will not be the last.

Having just got back from a weekend away renting a South Lakes motorhome, we thought we needed to write a review of the excellent experience that we had with them.Firstly, Sam and Adam were extremely helpful and polite from the very first moment that we met them. They were able to offer a wealth of advice and it was clear to see that they really did care about their customers and the experience they have whilst hiring from South Lakes Motorhome Hire. There was a comprehensive handover making sure that we were comfortable with how everything worked before driving off, as well as a detailed manual for reference kept in the vehicle. Sam reiterated on several occasions the fact that she was always at the end of an email or phone call if we were to experience any problems whilst we were using the motorhome.The motorhome itself was immaculate and practically brand new. We had no problems whatsoever with the motorhome whilst we were using it and wouldn't hesitate to use the motorhome from South Lakes again in the future. Everything you needed for a nice trip was already hidden away in the masses of cupboards within the vehicle, from cooking utensils right down to tea and coffee.On a costing note, we had seen other motorhomes with the same specification as this one from other companies online. Their prices however, were miles away from the low prices that South Lakes Motorhome Hire charge for rentals. Another important aspect was that with these other companies, they usually required a large £1250 deposit for the vehicle whilst South Lakes only require £750 or £1000 if you're aged 23-25. South Lakes were also incredibly flexible with the pick-up and drop-off times, offering early pick and late drop-off for only a small amount more without having to pay for additional nights unlike other companies.We really cannot fault South Lakes Motorhome Hire and cannot recommend them highly enough! If you want an excellent motorhome hire from a superb family run business then South Lakes Motorhome Hire is definitely the place to go. We will certainly be using them again in the (hopefully, not too distant) future.Thanks South Lakes!!

very hi end motor home , at very keen prices would defo use again

Just back from 4 days away nights in Cumbria, Lancashire, & Yorkshire, with two 4yr olds & one 2yr old grand daughters, excellent in every way , we travelled 1100miles, and was even nice Sunny weather, No Complaints at all, will definitely be booking for next year.

Highly recommended! We wanted to have the experience of a modern motorhome with a view to buying one in the future. We weren't disappointed! The motorhome was spotlessly clean when we picked it up and Samantha was very helpful in answering our questions. Being new to it all it was clearly explained how and what to do. We had a fantastic time in the Lake District and Loch Lomond travelling 500 trouble free miles. There were only 3 adults in the six berth Swift 696, personally, I wouldn't want to share with more than 4 as it would be too crowded. Saying that I would thoroughly recommend this type of holiday and especially South Lakes Motorhomes who made the whole experience so easy. Thanks once again, and we hope to repeat the experience next year!
